Tmax 400 has all of the sudden become their go-to black and white film. Are people finally getting bored of the much loved Ilford HP5+? It wasn’t mine but pushing it 3 stops made a difference.
Back to the Kodak, it isn’t as grungy as the Tri-X which makes this a good HP5 alternative. Contrast is strong but black does not get muddy while grain is fine and not distracting.
Subjects came out sharp especially when paired to modern lenses. It is about time Tmax 400 is finally getting the love it deserves, rightly so.
