THE BAR: Hakushu 12 Years

WEDNESDAY MARCH 7, 2018

WE TASTE

Lime, basil, mint,

pepper and green tea

Usually whisky is had after dinner but this one we find more appropriate as an aperitif for bringing about forest-like freshness to the nose. It may be a tad bright on the palate for some with notes of mint and basil followed by pepper. Finally, a short green tea finish. Although it is currently a hot property that’s soaring in price but we hoped for the Hakushu 12 to be more complex and rounded. Would I ever have more? Yes, a serving to remind myself as how to distinctive this single malt is but another whole bottle? Probably not.
