I've always been a fan of Bose not for the fact that they are terrific sounding but they are readily available at a retailer near you. And one is only required to decide on how much he or she is willing to splurge rather than spending time reading reviews or testing their products. Therefore you would forgive them for sounding a little average. Earlier this month, the company’s flagship earphone was sent my way and I tried finding out what it is really made of.

bose qc20 white
bose qc20 black

These Bose punches tight bass from Sam Smith’s When Its Alright Tomcraft Remix while giving sharp vocals on Goldfrapp’s Stranger, these QC20s are' quite a performer for being just a pair of earphones. The ingenious noise cancelling feature just sweetens everything. Despite all these goodness, it is no match for Bowers and Wilkins P5s but definitely triumphs in portability and in long hours listening.

bose qc20 review
bose qc20 noise cancelling

At 1690 ringgit, they sure are expensive, especially so for many for a pair of white/black buds. To me, the QC20s are sufficiently loud but some may find it being a tad soft at its maximum volume. Its Achilles’ heel would be that non-detachable noise cancelling device where its amplitude will definitely be felt.

If you really want one, keep an eye out for promotions where the QC20 could be had for half the retail price where things start to make more sense. Bose has come a long way departing from its first attempt on in ear earphones to these QC20 that is both a desirable and a solid product.
