REVIEW: Bang & Olufsen H8

Upon unboxing the B&O, one will be greeted with a special unconventional kind of welcome. Its box requires a delicate touch to open, revealing a pair of leather-scented H8 that it houses. Then by pulling two GT3 RS strings will get you accessories that come as standard, real mysterious. We decided to go for the more sophisticated space grey/brown combination since the gold alternative looks chintzy.

It was then left to charge to full health before being hooked up to an iPad Air then played over Bluetooth. The results were extremely close leaving the mind boggled. Tunes played through the B&O H8 are incredibly detailed with excellent sound separation accompanied by a healthy amount of bass.

" Call me unsophisticated but

the touch controls do not work "

That aside, sound leak is present which is no bad thing unless M2M is the only artist you listen to. As with leather wrapped headphones, things do get heaty in the ear department but all I want to do is more binging. Noise cancelling is great at deterring soft to medium conversations while clapping and shouting will get your attention.

" Anyone who would like to take a jab at the H8

is very much welcome into the ring "

The Bang & Olufsen brand has produced more price-friendly items in the past decade that are nice to look at but ultimately failed to deliver (Earphone, BeoLab 6 and for Audi Q5) but this one is a real winner. They’ve cracked it with the H8 by engineering warmth on top of clear detailed sounds into a neat package.

Headphones from this class better have something up their sleeves because this pair of cans is no pudding.
